What is the Long Table Open?
An independent competitive circuit for Quarrel. Each season is a single round robin among eight invited duelists, and the two who finish top contest a two leg final. Season 2 is the current season and its final is played at Ashgrove Hall.
What is Quarrel?
Quarrel is the original one against one turn based tactics game the circuit is built around. Two duelists alternate turns on a shared board under a fixed turn allowance, committing pieces to positions that only resolve once both sides have moved. A match is best of three games, and a game usually runs forty minutes.
How much does it cost to follow?
Nothing. Both legs are called live from the Long Table desk and a written record is posted after each. There is no ticket, no subscription and no paid tier, and there is nothing at all for sale on this website.
How were the eight duelists chosen?
On Season 1 record alone. The eight with the best records were invited back, provided they completed at least five Season 1 rounds. There is no application, no selection committee and no entry fee.
Why a round robin instead of a bracket?
Because a single bad match should not end a season. Every duelist plays every other duelist exactly once, so the table reflects seven results rather than one. It also means every round matters to the standing, right through to the last.
How does a two leg final work?
The top two play twice, once at each end of the table, and the games they take are added together across both legs. Whoever has more games in total takes the season. If the aggregate is level after leg two, a single deciding game is played that night.
How big is the prize, and is there a buy-in?
The Season 2 prize is 160,000, divided on final placing: 76,000 to the champion, 38,000 to the runner up, 16,000 to each of third and fourth and 3,500 to each of fifth through eighth. There is no buy-in. It is a prize for placing in a competition of skill, not a wager, and nothing is staked by the duelists or by anyone following along.
Is there an age requirement to follow the circuit?
No. This is an information site about a competitive gaming tournament. There is nothing to purchase, nothing to wager and no account to open, so it is open to anyone who wants to read the season or watch a leg.
Are the game and the duelists real?
They are original works of the Long Table Open team. Quarrel, the circuit and every duelist handle shown are our own creations, and the site is not affiliated with any real game publisher or esports organization. Nothing here uses another company's game, logos or artwork.
